Architectural Design and
Implementation Plan
- 5-day consulting service
All too often, Intranet/Extranet
development is seen to evolve rather than to be proactively
managed. A corporate portal is a critical
communications and management device for modern
organisations. The range and complexity of information
being stored within portals means that the corporate portal
is increasingly a container of key corporate assets, and as
such, its architecture and development arrangements must
reflect this level of importance.
The purpose of this service is to assist
in the formalisation and documentation of the architectural
design of the site and the implementation project plan for
its development. The deliverable will be an
architectural and implementation plan to be used to govern
the site development project.
This service, which has been capped at 5
days of effort, is aimed at helping managers to proactively
manage the development of the their SharePoint-based site.
The time will be spent as follows:
- Preparation: Completion of a
questionnaire by the customer, delivering background
information, technical data and any previous thinking on
requirements and priorities;
- 0.5 day: kick-off meeting and workshop to explore
the scope of the development project, constraints,
timescales, personnel required and resources needed and
available;
- 1 day: interviews with key
staff.
- 1-2 days: Research of technical
options, supplementary enquiries of contributors;
- 1.5 - 2.0 days; Draft the architectural and
implementation project plan for review;
- 0.25 day: presentation of findings.
Deliverables
The primary
deliverable will be an architectural and implementation
project plan.
Clearly, the scope and level of detail possible within the 5 days allowed
will vary depending on the size and complexity of the client
project.
