Information Storage, Exchange and Publication - 5-day consulting service

Intranets, Extranets and Portals are constructed for various reasons: more efficient project collaboration, to foster community spirit, on-line library, controlled internet usage, etc.  For whatever reasons management initiate the project, the broad functions of Intranets, Extranets and Portals are the same:

• Storage of Information
• Exchange of Information
• Controlled publication of information

The purpose of this consulting service is to ensure customers focus their IT budgets on solving those information issues with the greatest business impact, and thus achieve the best return on investment.

This service, which has been capped at 5 days of effort, is aimed at helping managers to understand the best strategies for the development of their site and to prioritise their investment.

The time will be spent as follows:

• Preparation: Completion of a questionnaire by the customer, delivering background information, technical data and any previous thinking on requirements and priorities;
• 0.25 day: kick-off meeting to agree the project structure, contributors, logistics and deliverables;
• 1.5 - 2.0  days: interviews with key staff.
• 1 - 1.5 days: Research of technical options, supplementary enquiries of contributors;
• 1.5 - 2.0  days; Write up findings;
• 0.25 day: presentation of findings.

Deliverables

The primary deliverable will be a report documenting the findings during interviews together with the results of research carried out and our analysis of the options available, with recommendations.  Clearly, the coverage possible within the 5 days allowed will vary depending on the size and complexity of the client company.
